THE STORY OF A POOR THING OR IT’S NO SHAME BEING POOR

8 April at 11:00h At the GK Žar ptica, Bijenička 97

Recommended age: 4+

Duration: 40 min

ABOUT THE PLAY

The performance of the theatre ‘Friend’ tries to direct and teach children that the value and meaning of human existence is not found in the material basis although it is imposed upon us by the modern way of living but rather in something completely different and that there are things money simply cannot buy.

‘The Story of a Poor Thing or It’s no Shame Being Poor’ tells about two little girls of a very different financial status. While one of them gets everything she ever wants, the other one has to invent her own toys and games. It is exactly this creating of games, building toys out of fruits and vegetables and the joy of imagination that makes childhood a happy time. Satisfying quickly all of the rich girl’s wishes causes a feeling of boredom, emotional emptiness and indifference. This is a story of two very different parents, one who is lost in his demanding job and obligations and the other who kept what is the greatest gift a father can give to his child.
